Foodmania~

If there’s one thing I can keep writing about 24/7, it’s food. I can talk about it all the time and take tons of unnecessary pictures of it (as you already may have seen, hahah!) and…and..%/#/#/! Yeah, anyways so I was thinking, why not share all the food experiences i’m having here in Seoul (SO MUCH YUMMIE FOOD HERE!!) with you guys?

Me and ze wifey had an idea about documenting our stay here in Seoul back in Sweden but since we go to different schools and it’s more than 1 h distance from us, it’s hard to find the time to even see eachother due to our busy schedules. Going from almost seeing eachother everyday to only maybe 1-2 times a week is a bit hard but we manage ’cause we that awesome!

But yeah, enough depressing talk and let’s get to the point, hahah! Our first video was kinda spontaneous and was more of a joke to our foodmonsters to friends back home but it turned out pretty good anyways I think! It’s my first video and editing ever so be nice!

I was supposed to show you a video but stupid Youtube muted my video because of copyright reasons from YG so it’ll just be pictures this time. Will have to fix that another day -o-!!

We were first introduced to this place when we were meeting a friend of ours whom we had met in Sweden when she was on an exchange. This restaurant has the yummiest samgyupsal i’ve tasted so far! Basically, 삼겹살 is grilled pork belly which you eat with lettuce leaves, grilled onion, slices of raw garlic, 쌈장 (which is like, wrapping sauce made of red pepper paste, bean paste, onion, garlic, green onion, sesame oil), kimchi, green chili peppers etc.

This particular restaurant also has thin slices of 떡 (rice cakes) which you can wrap and eat with and the meat, kimchi and bean sprouts are grilled on a stone plate. So effing goood! The restaurant’s name is 떡삼겹돌김치 (means like, rice cake samgyup and stone kimchi).

How to get here: Line 4 with the subway to 명동 (Myeongdong) and go out from exit 6. You’ll find Nature Republic on your left when you come out. Go straightforward and then turn left by Nature Republic’s corner. Go then straight in about 4-5 minutes or so and you’ll see the place! Enjoy!

PSY – 뜨거운 안녕 (Feat. 성시경)

Music, especially K-POP (since we’re in Korea daaah!), are played loudly from the small stores and bars on the street of Seoul. I think it’s so nice and makes the whole street more vibrant and lively but when different stores have different music at the same time it makes all gaaah!! @_________@ but still, it’s nice, haha!

The week that i’ve been here, PSY’s song 뜨거운 안녕 (Feat. 성시경) has been very popular and is frequently played everywhere! Just yesterday I heard it from a guy on a scooter who had this song blasting on a freakishly high volume from his scooter, making it sound over the whole area! I was like: Why do this song sound so familiar..? And when I came home, this song suddenly popped up on my playlist!  Turns out I had this song the whole time when I downloaded his album hahah! And now it’s freakin stuck in my head….-__- Listen and get addicted too!

Another one is the duo Tasty (I know…lame name but supercute guys!!) from the same company as Infinite. They debuted just a few months ago but their debut song, You know me(너 나 알아) has become pretty popular already and the MV is played frequently on TV. The great thing about them is that they’re –88 liners and I can fangirl without being a total pedonoona ehe…hehe…hehehe. Watch the MV and drool with me!

Review of the first week

Hey guys!

Sorry for the bad update! I’ve been so busy running around town and exploring that I haven’t had the time to sit by the computer and update that much >.< Mianhada! I promise to update more whenever I have time! *O* But yeah, It’s been exactly a week since I got here now and the classes have started and everything’s going smoothly so far! Came home from the Cultural Anthropology class a while ago which seemed like a very interesting class and gooosh are there many eyecandies here at campus!! *O* okey, okey, gotta focus!!! I’m just waiting for an alien ID card right so I can get a phone because i’ve been soooooo freakin lost without one! I can’t contact anyone when to meet, where to meet, or tell them where I am and no one can reach me….gaaaah!! And I haven’t bought a new camera yet either so that’s why the blog’s poor with pictures. But yeah, this first week has been good and i’ve just been trying to adapt to life here in Seoul and at school.

My Korean classes are held everyday from Mon- Fri 9AM to 1PM and although it’s only the second day, we’ve already received a lot of homework >< So I gotta hurry and do them now and go to sleep. (I wrote the first part right after I came home from school but then I forgot about so it’s already midnight here now xD). My roomie, Sofia, is already fast asleep so I gotta be real quiet and hurry so I can sleep too! *O* untzuntzuntz! Until next time my dear readers! 잘 자~~ ^ㅅ^

My school 😀

HEEERRO KOREA!!

The time has passed 4AM here in Seoul now and Fjó’s already asleep but I can’t seem to fall asleep even if I wanted to, maybe it’s jetlag or overexcitement I don’t know which one, hahha! The trip from Amsterdam went well but they had warned us at Shiphol that the flight may had to land on Osaka instead of Seoul due to the typhoon, Bolaven, but luckily, it wasn’t that strong at that moment so we could land in Seoul after all!

Me n Fjó decided to not give a rats ass about the typhoon and go out and explore the neighbourhood around the hotel, but almost every shop and restaurant had closed down earlier because of the Bolaven and the wind was indeed very strong so we considered ourselves beaten by the typhoon and ended eating triangle kimbap and ramyun in our hotelroom, which was also superdelicious! Especially the kimbap omg! I bought one who had meat with red pepper sauce in it and I thought the seaweed wrapped around it would be soggy and wet but the inside was geniously wrapped around plastic first before the seaweed came one and you could just easily remove the plastic without breaking the whole thing and it was seriously SO GOOD and so cheap! Despite the typhoon, Seoul has not disappointed me yet hohoh!

Pack pack pack the bag~

Now it’s only like, 12 hours left til i’ll leave for Korea and I still can’t believe that i’m going!! It’s so surreal in a way and this week has been all about saying goodbye to loved ones. Me and Fjó threw a goodbye-party last friday and though it was so stressful and everything got fixed in the last minute, I gotta say that it was a real success! Everybody seemed to have fun and was enjoying themselves and some got more drunk than others and some passed out, but hey, that’s what a party is all about no? ;D

Some pics from the party (took it from some friends on FB heheh)

Nopp, gotta continue repack my bag and then take a shower and go to sleep! Next time I update will be from Seoul!!! Sleep tight peeps!!

Flight tickets – check!

OH MY GOD….I just booked my tickets to Seoul with wifey over Skype. I can’t….freakin…believe it! *O* &#¤/¤”/#%/%#/#%(%/3 *completely ecstatic right now* BREAAAATH…!! It’s starting to really get to me right now, that i’m actually going to Seoul! I’m sending in my visa application to the embassy tomorrow and then…I think the most important things are fixed except for CSN (Swedish financial aid for studies) which i’m going to fix later in july or i won’t get any money for ze studies, haha! But i’ll worry about that later and enjoy the moment now! I’m so happy!! Someone please kick me in the ass and make sure i’m not dreaming!

Lastly, I just wanna thank my family and relatives because they’ve been so supportive of me. Don’t know how i’d manage without them. I love you guys!

Seoul, wait for me!

57 days left

About time!

Hell yeah! About time I started blogging again! Can’t believe it’s been a week since I last wrote something. Bad, bad Jen! But yeah, i’ve caught a freakin cold and been stuck in bed with mild fever, runny nose and a bloody cough from hell who won’t go away! A lot has happened this week though so to fill you in on my week imma just summarize my whole week for ya. I’ve been:

  • To Lisas graduation in Värnamo
Never been to Värnamo (= Da woods) before and the town sure is small! And so many asians!! Me of all people should be used to a lot of asians in a group but usually i’m in them and know most of them. These people were tiny asian farts in the ages of 13 to 20 and I didn’t know a single one .__. Vietnamese town for reaaals!
  • Hunny Bunnys housewarming party
    The day after the graduation I had to go straight back to Göteborg for my sweetest little Hunny Bunnys party. She finally moved in with her boyfriend permanently this week and after a looong loong time of talking about having a party it finally happened this saturday. They invited a bunch of friends over and she had prepared like, soooo much food!! I’m still waiting for the pictures so in meanwhile, the foodmonster that I am, we just have to settle with the food pictures I snapped at the party for the moment ^^;;

  • Went to get the vaccinations
I finally went to the clinic this week to get my vaccinations and I was recommended to get vaccinated against Typhoid fever and Hepatitis A+B. I know that wifey and the others took the vaccine for Japanese encephalitis too but the nurse said I didn’t really have to take it if I wasn’t going to be at the countryside for over 3 weeks. The vaccine costs like freakin 1000 SEK (~143 USD) EACH and I have to take it twice so it really makes me consider if I really have to take it…I mean…do I have to? Sure, we are going to visit Busan, Daegu and other small towns but I don’t think we’ll stay at the countryside for more than a couple of days. What do you guys think?
  • Farewell to Xier
And lastly, we had to say goodbye to Xier again since she’s going to Shanghai to study language for a year but before that, she’s going to do an epic trip to countries like Vietnam, Indonesia and more, together with her friend Michel and my dearest Tingting. Hope you have a safe trip and i’ll see you again in Korea ;D
